Author's Notes: I have created the TV shows Rockin' and The Andersons (obvs) and the character Don. So...yeah.

CHAPTER 1

...while the Anderson's younger son Blaine gets into a sticky situation when he accidently makes two different dates to the same party. All that and a new musical performance by Blaine on next week's episode!

"It looks like it's going to be a very exciting episode of The Andersons next week, don't you think guys and girls?" Don, the host of Rockin', an afternoon music and pop culture show, asked the audience. Teen age boys with cuffed jeans and pompadours and girls with poodle skirts and ponytails yelled and clapped loudly. Don chuckled and looked back at the camera with a huge smile. "Now before we bring out our first guest, I have a terrific announcement. It's mid spring now, which means high schools all across America are getting ready for prom," more cheers from the audience. "That also means that all you guys and gals are looking for dates!" He leaned closer to the camera, a conspiratorial glint in his eyes. "What if I told you that one lucky girl will get to take our first musical guest as her date to the prom!"

The girls in the audience screamed and clapped. Rachel Berry and Kurt Hummel scooted closer to the television set, holding their breath. Rachel reached out and grabbed Kurt's hand as the host paused for dramatic effect.

"We'll find out who it is and how you can enter to win after these short messages from our sponsors!" The host chuckled as the girls in the audience, Rachel and Kurt, and all ofteen agedAmerica groaned in unison.

"What a rotten tease," Rachel huffed. She scooted back away from the television and smoothed out her lilac cotton skirt. She looked at Kurt and pouted. "I wonder who it could be! Maybe it's Ricky Nelson," she sighed.

"Maybe it's Elvis!" Kurt said, trying to make her laugh.

"Oh my gosh, I'd die. I'd literally die," she said, holding one hand to her chest. "You don't really think it's Elvis, do you Kurt?" she asked.

"No, I don't really think it's Elvis," he said, standing up and brushing invisible lint from his slacks. "I'm going to go grab a coke, do you want anything?"

"Just a glass of warm water with lemon please." Kurt looked at her with one raised eyebrow. "What? It's great for the vocal chords; I read somewhere that it's the only thing Connie Francis will drink."

Kurt rolled his eyes. "That's not true."

"It might be, you don't know! Hurry up, the program will be back on any minute," she huffed at him. Kurt rolled his eyes again and headed to the kitchen.

He opened the refrigerator and grabbed his coke and a lemon. He used the bottle opener that his dad had attached to the side of the cabinet and turned toward the sink. With an evil chuckle he turned on the hot tap very slowly and filled a glass, Rachel would never know the difference, then he cut up the lemon and put it on a plate.

"Kurt! Kurt it's back on!" Rachel yelled from the other room.

Kurt practically ran to the family room, quickly handing Rachel her hot tap water and lemon wedges. He felt breathless and he wasn't sure why.

"Welcome back to the show guys and girls. And what a show it is today! Our first guest is an actor as well as a gifted musician. Girls want to date him, guys want to be friends with him and every parent wants him for a son. You kids welcome him and his family into your living room every week..."

"It's Ricky Nelson," Rachel breathed, gripping Kurt's hand tight.

"Please welcome our very own teenage dream...Blaine Anderson!" The camera cut to the audience as it erupted in noise. Some girls were crying and pulling at their hair, and Rachel let out a shriek of her own.

Kurt finally shushed her when the camera cut back to the stage where a lone microphone stood. Kurt could feel himself holding his breath, waiting for the curtains to part revealing his favorite TV actor. Hedidn'tknow why, but Kurt was enamored with The Andersons, a real life family that acted together, much like Ozzie and Harriet Nelson and their two sons. But Kurt was especially captivated by the Andersons' younger son. He guessed it was because Blaine was genuinely nice and so cool and had such ease with girls, ease that Kurt had never had except to be friends with them. At least that's how Blaine was portrayed on TV. That had to be what he was feeling right? And all those times he had day dreamed about Blaine, it was just because he looked up to him, wasn't it?

The curtains parted slowly revealing Blaine Anderson holding an acoustic guitar and smiling as big as Kurt had ever seen him. Kurt's heart beat wildly in his chest. Blaine stepped up to the microphone and the audience screamed louder. He ducked his head, still smiling and then looked back up through his long, dark eyelashes. Kurt's heart stopped.

"Hi," Blaine said and the audience got impossibly louder. Rachel was squeezing Kurt's hand so tightly that he couldn't feel his fingers, but he didn't care. "This is my newest song. I'm going to be playing it on next week's episode of our show, but I thought I'd give all of you a little sneak preview." Blaine chuckled and winked at the camera just as he started strumming his guitar.

"He winked. He winked at me Kurt," Rachel said as she hit him in the arm with her free hand. Kurt shushed her as Blaine opened his mouth and started singing. Their eyes were glued to the screen. Blaine played and sang and danced better than anyone, Kurt thought. When the song finished Blaine bowed and smiled and Kurt and Rachel clapped as loud as they could.

"Thank you for that Blaine," the host said as he shook Blaine's hand. Blaine turned toward the audience and mouthed 'thank you' and blew a kiss.

"What in the world is goin' on in here?" Burt Hummel asked from the doorway. I can't hear myself think." Kurt and Rachel shushed him. "Oh is that the kid from that show you two like? What's his name? Ben?" Kurt and Rachel shushed him again.

Blaine had started talking. "Thank you so much for letting me perform on your show," he said with a smile. "It's an honor."

"Now Blaine, I know the female population of our audience here in the studio and at home is dying for me to ask," the host winked at the camera. Somehow itdidn'thave the same effect as when Blaine had done it. "Are there any special ladies in your life at the moment?"

The show was in black and white, but Kurt could have sworn he saw Blaine blush. He ducked his head and rubbed the back of his neck, letting out a low chuckle. "No Don, no one besides my mom at the moment," he said. The audience laughed and some of the girls aww'd.

"Well, maybe that's a good thing. Wewouldn'twant to make any girl jealous when you go to prom with the winner of our little contest, now would we?" Don and Blaine laughed together, but for a tiny moment Kurt thought that Blaine looked the tiniest bit uncomfortable. "Alright girls and guys keep your sets tuned right here and we'll be back in a couple of minutes and at the end of the show Blaine here is gonna tell you everything you need to know to enter our contest."

"Alright, what was all the hollerin' about?" Burt asked as the program went to a commercial.

"Blaine Anderson-" Rachel breathed.

"Okay...what about him?" Burt chuckled.

"They are doing a contest and the winner gets to take Blaine Anderson to prom as her date," Kurt said.

"I have to win. There is no other option. Kurt, Mr. Hummel, I'm pretty sure you are looking at the future Mrs. Anderson," Rachel said, rising to her feet. "We'd make such a neat couple and I could be on his family's show, I mean I'm just as talented as any of them..."

Kurt tuned her out and let his mind wander. Part of him was so excited that Rachel could possibly win the date. But there was a small, hidden part of him, the part that he only ever acknowledged late at night, was sad. Sad that he would never be able to win the date. Sad that he could never know Blaine that way, or be on his family's show even though he was just as talented as any of them. Oh well, he'd just have to be happy for Rachel and maybe live a little vicariously through her. Kurt was pulled out of his thoughts by Rachel who had apparently asked him a question. "I'm sorry, what?"

Rachel sighed heavily, "I asked if you'd help me pick out my prom dress, since you're so great with clothes and colors and everything."

"Oh, um, yeah, of course," Kurt answered, the knot in his stomach aching just a little bit more.
