”You loved him, didn’t you?” Kurt questioned softly, slightly rhetorically. He could see Blaine’s expression whenever he touched on the subject, that bittersweet look of fondness and all together heart breaking sadness. Of course Kurt and his curiosities wanted to know more, his name, what he looked like, what happened, their history, purely to piece together more of Blaine, but he resisted, asking the only question he couldn’t help but ask halfheartedly. He didn’t need an answer at all. It wasn’t like Kurt didn’t know what Blaine was talking about, but he’d already revealed well enough and adding to it would only quite possibly make Kurt start off again - once the tears started he found it hard to stop if he didn’t watch the topic of conversation. The actor looked at Blaine, giving him a soft, sad smile. “Things will change for the better eventually…” Although he was completely unsure of this statement, and it showed a little in his voice, he was entirely hopeful that he might be right. Kurt hadn’t even noticed Blaine’s hand on his until he managed to tear himself away from the hypnotic honey green eyes for just a moment, smiling at the gesture. He’d never been one for anything which required touch, so allowing or initiating contact of hands had become, to him, some incredibly intimate gesture which was his own little secret in a way, since no one knew just how intimate it actually was.

Now this was like some movie. Everything slowed down like Kurt just knew what was coming. He could hear his breathing, the slight hitch of his breath everytime Blaine drew a little nearer, his heart was pounding in double time in his ears, the blood angry and full of everything he’d just wanted to scream after Blaine that night at the bar. And then their lips touched. It was brief, simple, but so perfect that Kurt didn’t know exactly how to describe it except relieving. There were no fireworks or orchestras or anything else incredibly cheesy or over described, just that flooding sense of the relief that just this one time he wasn’t alone on this; Blaine liked him too. His eyes had fluttered closed and he opened them again when he felt Blaine’s hand leaving his cheek, the clench of his heart refusing the apologies. As long as Kurt had allowed himself to admit that he couldn’t just think of Blaine as a friend he’d wanted to do that, in fact probably before he’d even admitted it himself. Kurt lifted his hand, brushing his bottom lip with the pad of his thumb in a sort of disbelief that this was actually happening; this didn’t happen to him, ever.

It was new. It was frightening. It was different. But at the same time it just felt so right. He noticed he hadn’t spoken and followed Blaine’s gaze to their hands where he removed his own, replacing it by intertwining their fingers together with a soft smile and watching Blaine’s expressions. Kurt lifted his other hand, gently pressing his index finger to Blaine’s lips with a gentle shake of his head. “Don’t you dare apologize for that. I should be thanking you.” He gave a small breathy laugh before removing his finger, tracing it down to Blaine’s chin with featherlight touch, mapping out his strong jaw line before allowing his hand to cup the musician’s cheek, looking into his eyes. “Can I?” He glanced briefly towards Blaine’s lips, feeling some magnetic pull to return the gesture, to make it reassuring and ever so positive that it was most certainly alright; after all actions spoke everything which words just couldn’t and Kurt couldn’t for the life of him think of any way to say how that had made him feel at all. Kurt leant his body in, keeping his eye contact with the shorter man until he was so teasingly close, letting himself smile mere centimeters away before his eyes fluttered closed again and he pressed a tentative kiss to Blaine’s lips, breathing out against them gently.

Kurt continued to surprise him, had he been that obvious about his feelings for someone that he hadn’t even really talked about? Or did the actor just find it that easy to read his expressions and see right through him? Blaine glanced over at the actor, knowing full well that he’d know the answer to his question as soon as he saw the look in his eyes, or maybe he already knew, he could never be too sure with these sorts of things. He looked away once more, almost feeling a tad bit better knowing that Kurt had some sort of idea of what was going on in his head, because honestly if it were anyone else he’d be more then terrified of their reaction or judgement. Someday…maybe this week, or the next, or in a month - who really knew when - he’d get around to telling Kurt about the first person he fell in love with, and how it had been one of the many memories from his life that he continued to feel distressed about on a day-to-day basis. For now though he’d keep those thoughts and that specific story to himself, because their was something a little more important to him in that moment, and he didn’t want to ruin it with thoughts of his past. “Man I hope so,” he said with an almost bitter laugh, noting the lack of certainty in Kurt’s tone while appreciating the thought nonetheless.

In all honestly Blaine was still kind of surprised that he had just leaned into Kurt and went for it, because he hadn’t directly thought of doing it before, and it had ended up just being one of those spur of a moment sort of things where his emotions took over his motive skills and just did what his subconscious had been bothering him to do for goodness knows how long. From the corner of his eye he noticed the actor lifting his hand to touch his lips, his facial expression forcing a light smile upon his own face as he tilted his head a little to look at him. He almost seemed a little skeptical, as though it was difficult to believe that Blaine would ever kiss him…and this made him smile even more, though he tried to keep the feeling at bay while he glanced elsewhere. Once Kurt’s hand had slipped away from his own the musician let his smile fade somewhat until a number of fingers slid their way between his own, intertwining their fingers together which once again easily brought another smile back to his lips.

At the sight of his friend drawing nearer and moving a finger to his lips, he met his favorite pair of stunning blue-green eyes without so much of a wavering glance. He wasn’t able to stray away from the man’s gaze as he felt a gentle and warm touch graze along his chin, then his jaw, causing a slight breathless sensation while he continued to look back at him. Blaine knew he wouldn’t have been able to answer Kurt’s question even if he wanted to because he was so far gone in the man’s eyes that he was almost in his own little world, where time seemed to slow down and speed up simultaneously. The prolonged moment where the actor drew nearer, the tender way his hand held the musician’s cheek, and the almost temperate way he held his gaze made it nearly impossible for Blaine to breathe evenly. And having Kurt so close and yet so far made it even more difficult for him to be patient enough to wait for their lips to touch once more. He smiled effortlessly in return, finally taking in a short but needed inhale of air before he leaned in to meet the actor halfway, closing his eyes and kissing him delicately and affectionately, wanting nothing more then to simply relish the moment in all of its entirety.
