Chapter 13:

The next morning found both Blaine and Kurt at Kurt's locker.

"I'm sorry." Blaine murmured. "I shouldn't have said what I said....about 'pulling a Chandler'."

Kurt reached into his locker for a couple of notebooks, lips pursed.

"I guess I was just trying to focus on something that wasn't my messed up parents." continued Blaine. "I haven't forgiven them, Kurt -- not for trying to hurt you, not for hurting me -- but I feel like if I could at least just be polite to them....maybe --"

"Maybe you could forget that you've got other crap in your life at the moment." finished Kurt, finally turning to face him.

Blaine nodded, eyes filling with tears.

"I should apologize too." said Kurt. "I couldn't stand seeing you in pain after the slushie, Blaine -- physical and emotional. It hurt way too much -- and I didn't want to face facts --"

"That I might be friends with him again?" Blaine sounded horrified. "Kurt I don't want friendship with Sebastian Smythe right now. Maybe way way in the future, but --"

Kurt held up a hand, and then reached over to briefly touch his boyfriend's cheek. They could get away with PDAs before first bell -- when there weren't that many students in the halls yet.

"Apology accepted." he said softly.

"Ditto." Blaine's lips curled in a small smile. "I love you."

"I love you too." Kurt smiled. "You still coming over so I can open my NYADA letter after school?"

"Of course."

---

Jenna bit her lip and picked up the item lying on the top of the desk in her hotel room.

Maybe she wouldn't need it....maybe Blaine would see sense. She'd never physically hurt him. Cooper had made sure of that.

Her fist clenched reflexively.

Cooper. He was the reason she'd been put into that horrible place -- the reason they'd heavily medicated her.

A scream left her throat as she slammed her fist down on the wood. When she lifted the item to examine it, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Miraculously, it wasn't cracked or broken. She wouldn't have to sneak into a hospital or a clinic somewhere to find another one.

Jenna glanced at the calendar. Saturday was circled in red, scribbed through with black, and a large 'X' drawn in white-out.

She wanted a time machine.

Three more days was a long time to wait.

---

"Come on, open it!"

"Dad I said we were waiting for Blaine." Kurt clutched the NYADA envelope in one hand.

The doorbell rang and Carole moved to answer it. When she came back into the living room, Blaine was with her -- and so was Cooper, who grinned at his brother's boyfriend.

"Hope you don't mind me tagging along." he said brightly.

Kurt sighed, smiling as he shook his head.

"I don't mind, Cooper." he chuckled a little as he hugged Blaine.

"So?" his boyfriend asked anxiously, staring at the envelope. "Let's hear if you got in!"

Kurt swallowed the lump in his throat, trying to calm his nerves. From the couch, Rachel and Finn watched nervously, Rachel clutching her own unopened letter.

The countertenor cautiously opened the envelope and pulled out the letter. Silence fell as he read it.

"Kurt?" asked Burt.

Kurt turned, with tears in his eyes -- but he was smiling so hard his jaw hurt.

"I -- I don't believe it." he said breathlessly. "They're so selective, I mean -- they --" he broke off, staring at his father. "I got in. I'm going to NYADA!"

Burt let out a yell of triumph and hugged his son hard. Kurt held on tight and buried his face in his father's shoulder. It was a long time before either let go.

Then Kurt threw himself at Blaine, who threw his arms around his boyfriend's neck and kissed him.

"I knew it." he whispered when they broke apart. "I knew you would, Kurt --"

The brunette silenced him with another kiss before turning to Rachel as he thanked Carole, Finn, and Cooper, who offered their congratulations as well.

"Rachel, open yours!" he said excitedly.

The dark haired girl got up off the couch and sucked in a breath as she opened her envelope. She took out the paper, eyes skimming the letter's contents.

Kurt didn't like the way her face fell with each passing second.

Rachel seemed stunned. The letter fell from her shaking hands and she turned to look at Kurt.

"I didn't." she said, voice shaking. "I didn't get in."

Good! I'm glad Rachel didn't get in. That's how it should have been in the show. And what the he'll does Jenna have that she would need to get from a hospital I she broke it? Gahh!!

You see, this is the way it should have been on the show, if that crap episode had actually been well written. Rather than sending the message that you can undo your own failure if you are an entitled, whining girl who stalks the admissions people and treats other people like crap, while people who actually try hard and overcome while staying decent and fair will just fail at life. Now I can't wait to see what happens when Jenna shows up - I hope it's spectacularly evil!

I like your version of opening the letters much better than Glee's, you're a very talented writer!
