Chapter 23:

Cooper stood in the middle of Colin and Heather's living room, arms protectively around his now seven year old brother Blaine.

He did not take his eyes off of the man he hadn't seen in seven years.

The man who'd left both of his sons at the mercy of their insane mother.

Thomas Anderson.

"What the hell is he doing here?" he snarled, ignoring the severe look his grandmother gave him.

Thomas smiled weakly.

"Wanted to see both of my kids." he said, smiling weakly. The seventeen year old's face remained stony. "What? It's not like I abandoned --"

"Don't." Cooper's eyes flashed. "Don't you dare deny that you up and left. I was listening to you two fight the night before you took off! I was in Blaine's room, because you woke me up! I was afraid you'd hurt him!"

Thomas looked at Blaine, who barely blinked as he looked at his father.

"He was barely a month old when you left!" Cooper yelled. "He needed you -- hell, so did I!"

Blaine remained silent, watching his father with vague curiosity. Like he wasn't sure how to approach the man who could've taken them away, could have stopped their mom from hurting Cooper in the first place.

"Nice to meet you." was all that left his lips after what seemed like an eternity. He looked up at Cooper. "Can you come help me with my homework please?"

Cooper swallowed the lump in his throat and nodded.

"Yeah sure, Blainey -- let's go up to your room, okay?"

"Okay Cooper."

Blaine groaned and opened his eyes. He was still trapped in the trunk of the car his mother was driving, but the weird thing was, they weren't moving.

What the hell...?

He could barely breathe. He felt dizzy, and his head was really hurting him. Where were they?

His heart began pounding uncontrollably when he heard footsteps, followed by the sound of a key in a lock.

Then suddenly the trunk lid was thrown back and he was looking up at his mother's expressionless face.

"M-Mom..." he coughed.

"Get out." she ordered. "We're going on a little walk."

Blaine's stomach did an uncomfortable flip.

"Wh-Where?" he asked fearfully, getting carefully on his knees.

Jenna actually smiled this time and reached over to playfully tug at his curls as he climbed slowly out of the trunk. His knees felt ready to buckle the second his feet touched the asphalt.

"You'll see."

---

"What do we do now?" said Heather as she leaned against the counter. "We have to report him -- he helped her do it, even if he didn't know she would actually kidnap Blaine."

Colin inhaled sharply and slumped over, head on his arms where they lay on the table.

"I know." he replied. "but I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about Cooper...and Kurt."

Just then they heard Kurt cry,

"No! You said if she knew we were onto her, she could kill him!"

"We don't even know what route she took --" Cooper replied.

"I-70 West goes right into Indiana!"

"Kurt --"

"No! Cooper please --"

Silence, then Cooper said,

"Let's go."

Heather went white in the face.

"Oh God. They're going after her." she whispered.

Colin was up and out of his chair in a flash before he literally bolted from the room. She heard the front door open and slam shut.

When Heather heard a car engine start, she knew it was too late. Colin came back a few minutes later, looking crestfallen.

"They're gone." was all he said before heading for his office and slamming the door shut.

His wife slid into one of the chairs at the table, hands trembling. She didn't bother to stop the tears.

God please...please don't let anything happen to them.

---

"IthinkImightlikeboys."

Cooper arched an eyebrow and sat up straighter on the couch, pushing the script he'd been going over for his upcoming audition. Heather and Colin looked at their younger grandson curiously. Thomas was staring at the ground, arms crossed.

"Sorry, B?" said Cooper. "I don't think any of us got that."

Blaine looked at him, silently begging him not to; for him to understand. Cooper did, of course, but he was more concerned with their grandparents and their father.

"I think," Blaine repeated, curls bouncing slightly. "I might like boys." he exhaled. "You know...instead of girls."

Silence.

Cooper was the one to break it. He got up and walked over to where the thirteen-year-old stood nervously, shifting his weight and occasionally lifting a hand to play with his curls.

Blaine started to cry when his brother's arms wrapped around him in a tight, comforting hug.

"I still love you, B." he heard Cooper murmur. "It's okay."

Blaine turned in Cooper's arms after a moment to look at their grandparents.

"Doesn't matter to us, kid." said Colin gently. "Love who you want to love -- I don't really give a shit --"

"Colin!" interjected Heather.

"What? It's true -- as long as he's happy I don't care what his orientation is. Shouldn't even matter in the first place."

"Agreed." said Cooper, smiling down at the teen.

Heather rolled her eyes, but she was smiling.

"We're always going to love you, Blaine -- regardless of who or what you love."

Blaine smiled and nodded, trying to stop his own tears as he turned to look at Thomas. His father said nothing for what seemed like an eternity.

Then he turned and left the room, not even stopping when he heard Blaine's sobs intensify as Cooper tried to comfort him.

Blaine currently felt like his legs were going to fall off. He was so tired of walking, so tired -- he just wanted to collapse in the grass and lay there until someone found him...or Jenna decided to kill him.

Either way, it would be bliss.

Don't you dare start thinking like that. You can't leave Kurt. Not like this....and think of Cooper. How would he feel?

Blaine knew exactly how Cooper would feel. He'd seen his brother nearly loose it after he'd tried committing suicide after Sadie Hawkins had happened.

Cooper wouldn't be able to handle losing him. Especially at the hands of their mother.

Jenna tugged on his arm, and he winced as she pulled him down the path.

"Not much farther, sweetheart," she told him, smiling. "Not much farther."

The way you end the chapters are going to kill me one day! Like literally kill me! I love this story! I don't think I will ever be able to stop reding it!

Great blangst gods! There's so much packed into this chapter. It was so awesome to see teenage, almost grown up Cooper standing between his dad and Blaine because he isn't sure if his dad will hurt him. And how prescient Cooper was, because a few years later, that asshole did hurt Blaine by not accepting him when he came out! And how heartwrenching that Blaine didn't know how to respond to his dad coming to see them, it's clear the little boy was confused and just wanted to get away from him. ....Though not as much as he wants to get away from his mom now! Where is his mother leading him?

I savor every chapter because of all the angst riches you provide in each one. Tied up!Blaine is a special kink of mine, so I squeed because I totally didn't see that one working its way into this story. Even lovelier was Kurt and Cooper freeing Blaine from his bonds and holding him safe after the terrible ordeal he's been through. But omg, does Jenna have a gun? Please let them get away so that Blaine can preferably end up in a consoling cuddle sandwich between Kurt and Cooper somewhere safe!
